Hello, friends and family!! What a great weekend that actually started Friday evening. With some errands out of the way and after some Daddy Daughter reading time, a nice long nap set me up nicely for that night and the next day. I was up past midnight exploring the all-about-blog books from the library; while not exactly page-turners, they really seemed to confirm my desire to continue this writing hobby. Thoughts of writing were exhilarating enough to awaken me before 6am Saturday morning, reminding me that passion projects are my favorite reason for occasional insomnia. However, the writing would have to wait since the weekend’s schedule was already pretty full.
I got a sense that my energy was probably peaking too early Saturday morning so I proactively made the choice to join Chau with a cup of potent Vietnamese coffee to get me through the morning of Kim’s jiu-jitsu class followed by an afternoon round of golf with one of my most frequent golf buddies. The caffeine jolt worked like a charm that led to an awesome time back on the golf course followed by a splendid evening of conversation with two of our closest parent friends. Two things that I really enjoy are: 1) spending a day with a friend on the golf course and; 2) small group conversation, especially when Chau is in the small group. Saturday night wrapped up with a late evening out with Kim; visiting my mom, searching for tennis balls, and preparing for Charlene’s birthday celebration the next day.
The Sunday birthday party at USA Ninja Challenge went smoothly, with the bonus of getting talked into trying out the warped wall with a fellow father. Afterwards, we spent the evening eating crawfish with two other families in our garage. It was back-to-back meals of delicious food, fun, and laughter with a couple larger groups of friends. All in all, it was an eventful weekend surrounded by the community that has enhanced our lives ever since I became a husband and father roughly a decade ago. They are the main reason we love where we live and have no intentions of moving away anytime soon. Consequently, the weekend excitement was probably also the reason I woke up late this morning and was slightly behind my regular schedule getting to work. No matter though, enjoyment fatigue is the best kind of fatigue as far as I am concerned.
